The Tacoma Youth Marine Center (TYMC) is operated by the Youth Marine Foundation a 501 c3 nonprofit organization, the center provides a facility for marine-related training programs for young men and women. It is a place to develop new skills and confidence through maritime training in leadership, citizenship, and personal fitness that instills strength of character and positive life values.

We are a youth-oriented campus on the Foss Waterway providing a safe place to introduce our youth to the marine environment through organizaed boating and sailing programs - in simple terms "a place where our youth can touch the Sound."

The Tacoma Youth Marine Center is also providing opportunites for youth to explore future maritime careers. TYMC has the capacity to serve hundreds of youth each year, providing a cluster of programs including intensive navigation, safe boating, small engine repair, diesel mechanics, fiberglass repair and other related maritime skills.

A place for youth to touch the Puget Sound and the waters beyond.Our mission is to provide an opportunity for all youth of Pierce County to experience boating, to develop new skills and explore maritime careers. Our training will teach youth solid values, effective leadership and teamwork, and concern of the marine environment. 

Our programs and resources introduce boys and girls to the skills of seamanship and the joy of safe boating handling, we are also mentoring and preparing young men and women for the adventures of thier lifes and the potential for rewarding maritime careers. Our program places emphasis on youth development, fostering personal responsibility, teamwork and leadership. Providing exposure to the potential of careers in the maritime industry and promoting service to our community while learning the elements of seamanship and boating around the Puget Sound.
