Pierce County Library Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Pierce County Library System. The Foundation is grateful for generous community support from individuals, businesses, foundations and associations that believe in the value of libraries.

Foundation funding has launched, strengthened and sustained some of Pierce County Library's most innovative and beloved programs for learners of all ages - including Summer Reading, Block Play, Job + Business Centers, Book Club Discussion Kits and many, many more.

The mission of Pierce County Library Foundation is to raise, allocate and manage funding to support the programs and services of the Pierce County Library System.

The mission of Pierce County Library System is to bring the world of information and imagination to all people of our community.

Community Impact

Pierce County Library System’s 18 libraries bring people together, enrich lives and provide children and adults with opportunities to learn.

  • The libraries offer families and children fun, learning and free access to 1 million books, CDs and DVDs, and numerous events to help kids read and do their homework.
  • Libraries are key to successful communities and families.

Pierce County Library System serves all of unincorporated Pierce County and the annexed cities and towns of Bonney Lake, Buckley, DuPont, Eatonville, Edgewood, Fife, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Orting, South Prairie, Steilacoom, Sumner, University Place and Wilkeson.

Pierce County Library Foundation makes a positive impact in our communities by funding literacy and outreach programs for people of all ages, incomes or ethnic backgrounds.

We are proud that Pierce County Library System was the only library in Washington State to receive the National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2013. Pierce County Library System was recently awarded the Creative Leadership Award for nonprofits from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. Pierce County Library was one of four award winners recognized as creative, nimble, and bold and for implementing successful strategies to ensure their organizations long-term sustainability.
