Bellarmine is a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition of education. It has close ties to the Jesuit order whose inspired leaders began this enterprise in one remote building in 1928 on the present site that overlooks the city and Mt. Rainier.
Bellarmine moved from an all boys to a co-educational school in 1974. That year, St. Leo's and Aquinas Academy girls' schools joined with Bellarmine and created a consolidated Catholic high school for the Tacoma-Pierce County area. The merger was a success story.
Today, Bellarmine enrolls approximately 1,000 students. They travel from as far away as Thurston, Kitsap and King counties. The school sits on 42 acres and has grown from one building to many, including a state-of-the-art library and computer facility.
Solid, challenging college preparatory courses form the foundation of Bellarmine's academic program, but students aren't limited to the basics. A broad range of elective offerings are available. Students are also encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities, ranging from football to chess.
The convictions of Bellarmine's curriculum carry a hope that our students will become men and women who are personally experienced in the Jesuit mode of education. Bellarmine strives to graduate students who are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice. Central to this experience is the sharing of the Christian elements of education with others. For this reason, education at Bellarmine is a community experience. The goal is to produce "men and women for and with others."
Bellarmine is a Catholic college preparatory school in the Jesuit tradition. Its mission is to proclaim the Gospel message within an educational community and to graduate students who are leaders in action, modeled on Christ, and committed to the transformation He envisions for the world.
An anonymous donor has challenged the Bellarmine community to a MATCH any contributions received throughout the month of May for the Annual Fund up to $75,000.
Your support of the 30 Day Challenge directly and immediately benefits our students, programs and facilities. As you may know, tuition covers only a portion of the cost to educate each student. Your gift, along with others, helps to cover the difference, or margin. This “Margin of Excellence” represents the added elements that truly make a Bellarmine education such a transformational experience. By enhancing the spiritual dimension, providing a diverse range of clubs and activities, supporting community engagement projects, and making sure that our buildings and grounds are being kept up, that extra margin is at work every day at Bellarmine. Perhaps the most significant area where this margin is transformative is through its support of families helped by financial aid.
Please help us rise to the challenge by making your annual gift today! By making a gift today, you are helping to support the excellence in education and overall experience offered by Bellarmine. And remember, during the month of April, your gift will be matched!
* Any gifts made to the Community Caring Campaign as well as the Every Parent Counts 2014 Campaign are not included in the match.
