We are building the best, by land, sea and air.

Saltchuk is family owned and operated; we were founded in 1982 and have grown to include five business units; TOTE, FossNorthern Aviation Services, Tropical Shipping and Northstar Petroleum which deliver critical transportation & logistics, air cargo, marine services, trucking and petroleum distribution services to their communities.

Community Impact

Saltchuk's Hawaii Regional Giving Committee is focused on making impactful gifts to the Hawaiian communities in which we live, work and serve.

We welcome your requests for donations and sponsorships that support post-secondary education and youth development programs.

About Us

Our companies serving Hawaii; Aloha Air Cargo, Young Brothers, Hawaii Petroleum and Minit Stop exhibit our shared values of safety, reliability and commitment every day.

Our name, Saltchuk, comes from a trading language, Chinook Jargon, that was developed by the natives of the Pacific Rim in North America. After the period of contact the language adopted words used by the Europeans that the natives traded with – principally French and English. “Saltchuk” means saltwater. Our name is suggestive of where we come from and what we do. Chinook Jargon was the language of business, it was inclusive of all peoples, and it was dynamic – all traits which we like to think are associated with our Company.

A huge mahalo from Hui Malama to Kimo, Mark, Bert, and Paul of the Saltchuk Foundation for visiting our Agency and presenting us with a generous $15,000 grant. This grant will support the center’s youth development program to inspire, nurture and empower our youth with the life skills and knowledge to prepare them to be positive performers in Maui’s social, economic, cultural and environmental condition. Hui Malama will also work extensively with community partners to ensure our youth get the attention, teaching and social support to be successful contributors to their families and community as well as give these youth the opportunity to build essential skills related to building habits of mind (perseverance, listening with empathy and thinking / communicating clearly); teach them to practice aloha and be builders rather than maintainers. Through innovative youth engagement and leveraging business and community resources, we will develop the whole person, cultivating students’ unique talents, intelligence and character.

Mahalo to Kimo and Saltchuk Resources for supporting Maui keiki and the Hawaiian Kamali'i Program! Every summer we host about 150 Maui youth at our facility at Hoaloha Park, sharing and teaching Hawaiian Culture, outrigger canoe paddling, character building, and ocean safety. Keiki ages 10-18 join us throughout the summer months to go on weekly field trips around Maui Nui at little to no cost to the children. It would be very difficult to continue providing these unique and educational experiences without community supporters like Saltchuk! MAHALO NUI!

On behalf of the PATH Board of Directors, our teaching staff, our volunteers, and most especially the keiki that get to experience our Bike Ed programs, I want to express our delight and appreciation for your generous gift of $10,000. This donation will insure that 300 4th grader boys and girls will learn the joy of safe cycling . For 25% of these children, the Bike Ed class will be the first time they have ever ridden at two wheel bike! Seeing the pride on their faces when they "get it" and are able ride without assistance is the sight that our instructors cherish. We are all so grateful for your support of our program and for your confidence in PATH to positively impact the life of our island children. Mahalo nui loa!
