What is Giving Tuesday Now for COVID-19

You may be wondering what is GivingTuesdayNow? In a nutshell, it’s an extension of GivingTuesday, the global movement to encourage charitable giving on the Tuesday following Black Friday holiday shopping. But, why are we having GivingTuesdayNow, now?

Covid-19 Call-to-Action

GivingTuesdayNow is a call to help the many nonprofit and charitable organizations who have lost funding due to COVID-19. The next wave in the COVID-19 crisis is the impact to nonprofits in our communities and those they serve. Consider this:

  • Employees who were laid off no longer donate through payroll deductions
  • Parishioners are no longer giving at their place of worship
  • The entire network of churches and groups that run local food banks are shut down
  • Companies have shut down in-kind charitable giving programs
  • Spring auctions and fundraising galas have been cancelled or are attempting an online fundraiser
  • There is a wave of unintended consequences of the government stay at home orders that are impacting local charities

How to Help on GivingTuesdayNow

Now that you know what is GivingTuesdayNow, the next question is, how to help on GivingTuesdayNow. As posted in 6 Ways to Help Respond to Covid-19, you can help even if you are experiencing unemployment or are under a Stay at Home order.
