A new exclusive from a Chronicle of Philanthropy study shows how much money Americans give back to charity.  This interactive tool and study allows you to explore charitable giving in your state, city, or even narrow down to your neighborhood.
 
As the founder of GIVINGtrax and a Washingtonian – I was intrigued to find that Washington State was ranked 15th and that the Seattle-Bellevue Metro area was ranked 13th of 366.  More than one third of Washington residents volunteer, well ahead of the national average of 26 percent. The typical household was below the national average in terms of contributions as a percentage of discretionary income.
