4 Ways to Help American Red Cross During COVID 19

The American Red Cross needs your help.  The COVID-19 crisis is hitting at the same time as their normal seasonal increases in Disaster Response service.  Along with Tornadoes, the American Red Cross expects to respond to seasonal flooding beginning in the next couple weeks.

On Friday, the American Red Cross reached out to the business community to help them share their greatest needs.  Below are 4 ways you can help the American Red Cross right now.

Give Blood

There is a wide-spread shortage of Blood.

The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage as the coronavirus outbreak threatens the availability of the nation’s blood supply. Healthy individuals are urged to help restock the shelves for patients who need surgery, victims of car accidents and other emergencies, or patients suffering from cancer. Please make an appointment: rcblood.org/appt.

Volunteer

The most optimistic forecast is COVID19 will cost the Red Cross an additional $150M dollars.

There is strong interest in volunteering, but many folks are concerned about face-to-face requirements in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

Along with needing volunteers to staff Blood Banks, the American Red Cross is actively seeking volunteers to serve in both their Disaster Services and Virtual Services teams.

There is a strong need for volunteers with skills to help in Virtual Services areas.  The Red Cross will be opening volunteer portals that may be accessed from their website at:  https://www.redcross.org/
